2012 National Association of Conservation Districts Poster Contest
Soil to Spoon
The Conservation Districts of Iowa with Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Company are once again sponsoring a poster contest this year. The competition is open to all students who are residents of Iowa from Kindergarten through 12th grade. The contest awards $35 to the five winners in each region and $50 to each of the five first place state winners. The Linn SWCD will also be presenting cash awards for 1st & 2nd place in each division and possibly public display of their posters.
This year’s theme is “Soil to Spoon.” It is important to understand where the food comes from that you eat each day. You see a wide variety of products in your local grocery store. But where does it all come from? What is the connection to the soil you walk on each day? This poster contest will help you gain a better understanding of the process the food takes.
Posters should reflect the contest theme, “Soil to Spoon.” The 2012 title “Soil to Spoon” must be on your poster. (Don’t use any other title.) For more info and helpful links about this event visit: http://nacdnet.org/education/contests/poster/2012/index.html
All posters should be made on regular poster paper with the size 8.5 x 11 up to 22 x 28 inches only. They may be in any medium such as paint, magic marker, pencil, cut and paste, crayon or whatever inspires the student. Just no three-dimensional effects please. Again, the 2012 theme must be on the poster.
All posters must include a legible official entry form on the back of the poster. Please make sure that a parent/guardian also signs the entry form where indicated, if possible. All posters must be submitted in a flat manner to the Linn Soil and Water Conservation District Office at 3025 7th Avenue, Marion, IA, 52302, no later than March 31, 2012.
